Are Your Locks Too Long?
I only have to walk around the caravan parks to see how many people have locks that protrude out from the door way too far. I am sure that you know the ones that I mean. The ones where you can see quite a bit of the cylinder sticking out further than the door.
Ideally the lock should be flush with the door however the widths of door vary and locks come in sizes that increase by 5mm at a time so an exact fit is not always possible.
So if your lock sticks out of the door more than 4mm then your lock, simply is too big. This is a problem because it makes it very easy to snap the lock and gain access even without removing your handle first.
Anything around or over the 1cm range is a perfect size to put a snapping tool on the end or even some mole grips and give it a quick yank. Please don’t make it too easy for thieves, make sure that your locks are not sticking out too much and if they are give me a call and let me fit one that is the right size for your door.
